Located on busy Rosanna Road in Rosanna, Melbourne the Assisi Centre’s existing residential aged care facility is set on the grounds of heritage listed Sisters of Mercy Convent. The multi stage redevelopment of the existing site has been master planned to cater for the anticipated demand in retirement living.

The site has been master planned to provide for growth of the current care services on site, whilst moving towards becoming a lifestyle and cultural destination. This is translated to spaces and facilities that allow a degree of lifestyle flexibility and choice supporting ageing in place and the co-location of retirement living.

The development will feature retirement living apartments across three new apartment buildings and the retrofitted heritage Convent building, a retirement community hub incorporating cultural and lifestyle amenities such as function spaces, a restaurant, bar, cantina, gym, and health care services in addition to extended residential aged care catering for up to 210 residents requiring a range of care services.

Upon arrival of the Assisi Centre, which is accessed via Rosanna Road, residents and visitors are welcomed by the heritage convent and gardens. The design embraces the Convent as the communal entry to the site, with communal recreation facilities leading off the main entry and the central piazza.

The site is planned with discrete precincts creating a separation between the retirement living apartments and associated amenities and the residential care precinct.
