An extensive refurbishment of the Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit and Cardiothoracic Ward to enlarge the Intensive Care Unit at Christchurch Hospital for Canterbury District Health Board.
This refurbishment comprised of Ten Bed Intensive Care Ward plus Isolation Room, Charge Nurse Office, Out Reach Nurse Office and Nurses Station, Handover/Meeting Room, Pharmacy and Fluids Storage, including Secure Drug Safe, Staff Cafeteria and Ablution Areas.
Noordanus Architects were the Architects and Engineer to the Contract for all stages of the project, from Client brief until the final claim.
The Intensive Care Unit is a particularly critical part of the patient journey, as such significant consideration to the flow to other areas of the hospital, the work practices of the nurses and specialists, and the role of the patient and their family was vital.
