Ashwood College is one of the first Victorian schools designed so each learning group is self-sustaining within a collaborative teaching and learning model. The masterplan was developed through extensive workshops with staff and students, ensuring the design responds to genuine educational needs rather than popular trends.

Each learning group includes a range of purpose-designed spaces, from flexible collaborative zones to staff and support areas with breakout spaces. Outdoor learning areas further extend the learning environment, creating seamless connections between indoor and outdoor teaching and fostering a variety of learning experiences

The campus as a whole supports independent and group learning while maintaining cohesion across the school. By integrating diverse educational spaces within each learning group, the design encourages adaptability, collaboration and engagement, providing a framework that can evolve alongside changing teaching approaches.
