Shotover Primary School in Shotover Country, Queenstown, serves a rapidly growing community with a roll of around 650 students from new entrant to Year 8. The school fosters collaboration and inclusion, connecting closely with its wider whānau, and positions itself as both a modern learning environment and a central hub for the community.

Stage 2 of the development introduced a new eight-teaching-space building arranged into two learning habitats. Designed to encourage collaboration while maintaining flexibility, the habitats are linked by a central wet area that can be opened or closed to suit different activities. This shared space extends outdoors, creating sheltered opportunities for learning beyond the classroom and supporting a seamless relationship between indoor and outdoor environments.

Building on the success of this stage, Stage 3 expanded the campus further with ten additional teaching spaces organised into two habitats, alongside a dedicated two-space new entrant nest. Together, these additions reinforce the school’s adaptable, future-focused framework, providing environments that support varied teaching styles and evolving student needs while strengthening Shotover Primary School’s role at the heart of its community.
