The Donald Whitehead Building Learning Commons explores how a variety of learning zones can support both individual and group study. Intimate alcoves provide small-group spaces, while open areas with ottomans and tables encourage independent learning, offering flexibility for different needs and study styles.

The corridors connecting the Education-Humanities and Martin Buildings have been transformed into student-friendly hubs, accessible 24/7. Colour, pattern, texture and graphics have been integrated through materials that wrap walls and ceilings, creating vibrant, engaging spaces that stimulate learning and interaction.

Together, these interventions create a cohesive learning environment that balances focus and collaboration. The Commons provides adaptable spaces that respond to students’ needs, fostering engagement, autonomy and a sense of connection throughout the campus.
